Another little project I worked one that I called "Stasis" was about the creation of a character in a sci-fi laboratory. It involved some machinery and other associated VFX.
One of the first thing I wanted to try with the stasis was simulating some kind of water in which would float the character during its creation.
I ended-up building a custom shader based on multiple distortion of the scene color capture to get the water effect I wanted. This means I have three different kind of refraction going on at the same time. The bubbles are a simple particle system.
